Meet Shawntia Dunna (she/they) and Nekaybaw Watson (she/her), the creative minds and co-owners of Bone Out BBQ, a unique, plant-based barbeque experience located in Austin, TX. The pair thought of this idea one day late November of last year and went to the kitchen creating an instant hit.
Shawntia’s struggles with GI health pushed them towards a more plant-based, dairy free diet and Nekaybaw’s vegan family and friends encouraged her to find unique and flavorful ways to experiment with food. This background and passion gave them both the tools they needed to make a delicious and different approach to vegan barbeque. “We want to be inclusive to the true Texans that just happen to be vegan, they deserve good barbeque too,” says Nekaybaw. “ We have so much more to offer that isn’t typically seen when people say they have vegan options in predominantly meat-eating spaces,” says Shawntia.
